TRS announce apprenticeship partnership with LCR logistics giant Nagel Langdons

TRS Training has announced an exciting new apprenticeship partnership.  The roster of Liverpool City Region companies we are working with has expanded once more to include Nagel Langdons.

The blue and white trucks of the chilled and frozen food distributor are a familiar sight on UK roads.  The firm is part of the largest and most comprehensive food logistics network in Europe.

LGV license

Staff from the logistics giant are enrolling onto TRS apprenticeship programmes to develop skills for traffic office and manufacturing roles. A proportion will be starting apprenticeships in large goods vehicle driving which will see them gain their LGV driving license and other job critical skills. In total seven apprentices will be trained, giving Nagel Langdons a competitive edge. The company has a well-established reputation for investing in staff across Europe.

The firm already has its own driving school in Europe and logistics centres in Hamburg and Switzerland. Earlier this year they opened a new distribution centre in the heart of Merseyside.  The temperature-controlled warehouse occupies 87,000 square foot of warehouse space in Knowsley. It is one of eight depots across the UK. Globally the Nagel-Group has 130 locations with a workforce of more than 12,000.

Boost staff competency

Kevin Birch from TRS Training says:

“TRS are specialists in delivering skills for the logistics sector. This is reflected by the fact that a massive firm like Nagel-Group has appointed us as a training partner.  We will be working with staff in warehousing and transport to help boost competency and make an impact on the service given to the client companies that use Nagel-Langdons.”

The TRS team is looking forward to working closely with both the employer and its employees.  The highly professional firm is reported as having ordered more than 200 new Scania trucks and employing their own advisors in international trade to ensure a smooth transition during Brexit developments.

Apprenticeships underpin staff progression

Apprenticeship training and associated services will be financed through apprenticeship levy funds. The training schedule has been planned to fit in with existing work patterns, with apprenticeship workplace mentors playing a key role in the successful completion of the training.  It is envisaged that Nagel-Langdons will use the apprenticeships to underpin career progression and pathways within the company. TRS will be on hand to offer further training in the areas of road haulage, warehousing and logistics. By progressing on to level 3 apprenticeships in team leading, the current apprentices can be developed in the future for managerial roles.
